Bring Me In

Extra Hands, Right When You Need Them

Need someone who can just get on with it?

Sometimes a team doesn’t need another strategy document — it needs someone who can roll up their sleeves and deliver. A manager is off sick. A colleague’s gone on maternity leave. There’s a gap in the team while you recruit. Or you’ve simply got more campaigns on the go than people to run them.

That’s where I come in. I slot into your team as an experienced, hands-on marketer — managing projects, designing and delivering campaigns, and picking up wherever the gap is — so things keep moving while you figure out the bigger picture.

What does “Bring Me In” look like?

It’s flexible, embedded support — not a one-off project dropped and forgotten. Depending on what you need, that could be:

  • Interim cover for a marketing role — illness, a vacancy, or maternity leave.
  • Hands-on delivery of campaigns you’ve already planned but don’t have capacity to run.
  • Managing and designing a campaign from scratch, start to finish.
  • Joining your team for a set number of days a week, for as long as you need the extra pair of hands.

I become part of the team for as long as it’s needed — attending your meetings, using your tools and channels, and getting on with the work.

Who’s it for?

This is for organisations who need delivery, not just ideas:

  • Teams covering a gap — illness, maternity leave, or a role mid-recruitment.
  • Organisations with more campaigns to deliver than people to deliver them.
  • Teams who need someone experienced to manage a project hands-on, from planning through to delivery.

It’s not a long-term agency retainer or a strategy-only engagement — it’s practical, embedded support for as long as the gap exists.

How it works

  1. Discovery Call — a free 20-minute chat about the gap you’re covering and what support looks like.
  2. Scope It — we agree how many days a week, for how long, and what you need me to pick up.
  3. I Step In — I join your team (online or in person), get up to speed on your tools and projects, and start delivering.
  4. Handover — when the gap’s filled, I hand everything back cleanly, with the option of ongoing support if you need it.

Why work with me?

I’ve covered team gaps before, and I know how to step in quickly without disrupting what’s already working.

At RAMM, I stepped in to cover a missing manager role — picking up the day-to-day running of marketing activity so the team kept moving while they recruited.

I’m currently providing maternity cover for The Big House Co, managing and delivering their marketing while their usual lead is on leave.

I won’t need months to find my feet — I’ll get stuck in, ask the right questions, and start delivering fast.

I’ve been freelancing in marketing since 2012, working across campaigns, events, social media, sponsorship, and strategy with clients in the UK and US.

FAQs

How long can you cover for?

It’s entirely flexible — from a few weeks covering illness to several months of maternity cover. We’ll agree a timeframe (and how many days a week) that suits the gap you’re covering.

Can you work on site or remote?

Either — I can join your team remotely via Zoom or Teams, or in person if you’re in Exeter / Teignbridge / South Devon.

Canny things folks have said

“I highly recommend Karen. She is a talented and generous marketing specialist, committed to delivering real impact for her clients. I had the pleasure of working with her on a marketing project, and I was very impressed by her collaborative and enjoyable work approach. She produced a significant amount of high-quality work in a short time. She also has a strong work ethic, which I really appreciated. I am very grateful for her contributions and look forward to collaborating with her again in the future.”

My experience

I’ve been a marketer for 25 years, from blue chip corporates to small organic farms. I’ve marketed hotels, soups, cities, museums, events, festivals, therapists, bike hire, charities, venues, libraries, adrenaline sports, kitchens and everything in between.

I’ve had my own business for 12 years and have designed and delivered campaigns and plans for public and private businesses — including stepping in to cover gaps when teams have needed it most.

I work with a digital marketing agency in the USA so I’m ahead of the game when it comes to SEO and I love it that I can still keep learning. I’d be delighted to help guide you every step of the way. Plus, I’m a qualified coach and mentor so I know how to help you make the most of your time and energy.
